A bit of Christmas Cheer

Tonight Dad Bidoli, Sion K. and Connor G. met at Landmark lodge and collected all of the food we have gathered along with the Brothers of Landmark Lodge. They then went shopping with cash donations and $50 from our Almoner’s fund to purchase staples and Christmas Dinner for a family from a local high school.

Tomorrow Mom Tingler will drop the food off at the school for the family to enjoy.

We wish everyone a very Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and Blessings of the New Year.

Deland Christmas Parade Report

Airon K. worked with the Tall Cedars this last Saturday to decorate their float for the Deland Christmas parade. We would like to express our appreciation to the Tall Cedars Forest 193 for including us on their float. Sion, Airon, and Zander (along with 2 of our advisors) had a lot of fun yelling Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah and Felize Navidad while we traveled down Mainstreet Deland with the Tall Cedars, and Molly their MDA Ambassador.

Spaghetti Dinner Report

We would like to express a heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in the spaghetti dinner fundraiser for Tommy Turlington tonight (Dec. 11, 2019).

We had four advisors, five officers and a prospect (little Ryon) at the fundraiser.

We would especially like to thank the officers of New Smyrna Beach Lodge for all of their cooking and preparation, and for inviting Dale Chapman Chapter DeMolay to serve the dinner. Special thanks also go out to everyone who donated a tip to the DeMolay.  We raised over $360 toward our trip to Mini Conclave ( our winter leadership convention).

ChickFilA sandwich and Card Games was a Success!

We had a great time at our ChickFilA sandwich and poker night tonight. A Great Big Thank You goes out to everyone who helped to support us.

In addition to buying sandwiches, several Masons hung out with us and visited. We did have a bit of a snafu with Chick-Fil-A as they had a different date on their calendar, but they were able to come through for us and we had 50 sandwiches in an electric hot bag at the lodge by 7:15.

Everyone had a lot of fun. Several of our members brought friends (prospects) and some of our less active members were joined us for the night. We had a great visit with a Senior DeMolay who works at Pine Ridge High school. We hope to see him again.

Remember – We will not be meeting the day before Thanksgiving, so the next time we get together will be for our fun night on Dec. 4th. We will have a meeting on Dec. 11th and either a fun night or practice on Dec. 18th

I hope all of you, your friends and your families have a blessed and very Happy Thanksgiving!

Helping in the Community

Many if not most members of DeMolay are active in other civic organizations in their communities. Today we would like to recognize those members who are boy scouts.

This weekend and last weekend Boy Scouts all over the US were collecting food for local food pantries (Scouting for Food). Last weekend, Scouts distributed door hangers to let their neighbors know about the drive. On the second, Scouts revisited those houses to pick up bags full of canned food, cereal, pasta, peanut butter, juice and other nonperishable items.

Airon, Andrew and Zander, members of Dale Chapman Chapter, are also Boy Scouts with Troop 599. They spent several hours placing the door hangers last weekend and then this weekend, were back out lugging bags of food to vehicles and then to the local collection point.

Advanced Leadership Training Academy

The Florida DeMolay state line officers hosted an Advanced Leadership Training Academy for District #3 at Bahia Chapter on October 26, 2019.

Several of our brothers were out sick, but we took 2 DeMolay and a prospect.

We spent about 3 hours learning about DeMolay traditions, procedures, and ways to introduce DeMolay to friends and strangers among other things. There was plenty of interaction with the state line, and everyone learned something useful.

After the class, we had pizza, nachos and a social. We met a family, new to the area, whose son was initiated in another state. Everyone had a grand time, and we look forward to the next Academy.

Lock-in was a succes

We had a great time at our Lock-in this last Saturday. We would especially like to thank our visitors from 1st Coast, Henry and Dj. We were also joined by a prospective member, Alex and a future squire Ryon.

We had a great time with a nerf war, and several game tournaments. Some of us crashed around midnight, and the rest were still awake when Mom Sandy arrived with breakfast burritos and donuts for breakfast.

We ended the night by cleaning the lodge, and sweeping and mopping the dining hall.

We are looking forward to helping at the Grand Master’s official visit this Saturday, and then attending Cotillion next weekend where we will initiate Ryon into the Squire program, and assist with DeMolay and King Solomon’s Initiations.

Hurricane Dorian

Installation postponed

Due to Hurricane Dorian we will not be having our Installation of Officers tomorrow…

We have been watching the situation with this oncoming hurricane, and due to the fact that several local gas stations are already out of gas we will not be having our Installation tomorrow, as we couldn’t guarantee that everyone would be able to buy gas to get home and outlast the storm.

We will let you know when we reschedule.

2019 so far…

2019 so far…

At Mini-Conclave in January, Connor G. was elected District Master Councilor for District 3.

Maximilian O. was installed Master Councilor in February, and since then we have been focused on growing our Chapter, increasing our contact with the Lodges and helping out in our district.  We have initiated 3 new members already this year.

Sion K. was elected to serve as Master Councilor again in July and we have two first time Councilors (Airon K. and Andrew T.)

At Conclave in July Connor G. was appointed Illustrious Knight Commander of Col. James “Nick” Rowe Priory (Florida Knighthood); and Sion K. was named Squire Commander. We had several guys compete in the sports competitions, and Airon K. placed second (out of 2) in the 200-yard dash.

This year has also seen some changes in our Advisory Board.  Bryan and Jennifer Coffey, who have been the driving force on the Board for the last few years have moved to Tennessee, and Harvey and Sandra King who are well known in our District have stepped up to work with the Chapter as Chairman of the Board and Chapter Advisor. We have also added Noelle Tingler (a DeMolay Mom) and John Bidoli (a Senior DeMolay) to the board.

DeMolay is unique among youth groups in that it genuinely is led by the members. Our Advisors work primarily to liaise with community adults, to answer questions and to drive our members around the state. We are here to help them learn and grow, not to tell them what to do.

If you would like to learn more, please feel free to attend any of our meetings, board meetings, and fun events.
